Dhaka: Customs intelligence personnel on Wednesday arrested a passenger returning from Bangkok with 18 gold bars weighing about two kilograms from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

‘We arrested Nazmul Haque Bashir, of Brammonpara, Comilla, from Green Channel area of the airport and seized 18 gold bars concealed inside his shoes at about 12:30pm,’ Director General (DG) of customs intelligence Mainul Khan told BSS.

Weight of each of the gold bar is 100 grams and the estimated cost of the seized gold is Taka 90 lakh, he also said.

Nazmul came from Bangkok by TG321 at 12:30pm. His passport number is PPort BJ0991292.
