Danish minister Mogens Jensen in Dhaka
Dhaka: Danish Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation Mogens Jensen arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday on a three-day visit.
The minister is accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Danish Ministry of Employment, and officials from the Danish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Jensen visited DANIDA-supported development projects working in agriculture and rural roads in climate vulnerable areas of Barisal on Tuesday, said an official.
He will also visit the RMG factory Aeko-Tex Group in Gazipur. At Aeko-Tex, the minister will have a chance to see how a factory, implementing CSR initiatives, is also able to gain valuable business advantages.
Jensen will attend a conference, titled ‘Bangladesh – Framing the Future’ a High Level Conference on Ready Made Garments and Beyond’ in the city on Thursday.
The conference will focus on the learning from the last two years’ multi-stakeholder cooperation within Ready Made Garments (RMG) and how these learning may be leveraged for other potential export sectors and in respect of greening of the RMG industry.
Jensen will, among others, meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Foreign Affairs Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali and State Minister for Labour and Employment Mujibul Haque.
The Minister will also meet senior leaders from other major political parties, civil society leaders, key actors in the RMG industry, Danish companies and beneficiaries of Danish development assistance around the country.
This is Mogens Jensen's first visit to Bangladesh as Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation.
