Sramik Dal gets DMP permission to hold May Day rally
Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has given permission to Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, the workers’ front of BNP, to hold a rally in the city’s historic Suhrawardy Udyan on 1 May, marking the May Day.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner (media) Maruf Hossain said the permission was given on Friday on some conditions.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia may address the rally as the chief guest.
Earlier, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told a press briefing that Sramik Dal sought permission from both Public Works Department and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on 27 March for arranging the rally.
Rizvi said the Public Works Department said they have no objection if the DMP permits to hold the programme.
