Lakshmipur: A case has been filed against 18 people in connection with the killing of two people at Rajibpur village of Sadar upazila in Lakshmipur on Friday.

The Sadar police official-in-charge Abdullah Al Mamun Bhuiyan said Morshed Alam, brother of the deceased, Ismail Hossain, filed the case against ten identified and eight unidentified people the same night.

Police in a drive arrested Belal Hossain on suspicion of his involvement in the killing from Uttar Majupur village early Saturday, said the OC.

Earlier, two alleged drug peddlers—Ismail Hossain Manik and Kamrul Hossain—were shot to death by some miscreants at Rajibpur village early on Friday.

Bullet-riddled bodies of the two, who had gone out of their houses after getting phone calls on Thursday night, were found next morning.

Both the victims were wanted in several cases filed with Sadar Police Station, added the OC.

Meanwhile, AKM Salahuddin Tipu, convener of the district unit Juba Dal and Sadar union chairman claimed that Manik and Kamrul were activists of the local unit Awami League and they were killed centring a political rivalry.
