Rangpur: Two passengers were killed and 10 others injured as a night couch bus plunged into a ditch at Ershadnagar in Rangpur on Wednesday morning.

The injured were taken to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital.

Kotwali police officer-in-charge Abdul Quader Jilani said the accident occurred as driver of the Kurigram‑bound Bismillah Paribahan bus from Dhaka lost control over it and the bus fell into a ditch by the road at about 6:00am.

Being informed, fire service and police went to the spot and conducted rescue operation. Police is trying to recover the bus from the ditch.

The deceased could not be identified immediately.
