Magura: Nine sand workers suffered burn injuries in a firebomb attack on a truck at Moghirdal on Magura-Jessore highway in Sadar upazila on Saturday night.

Five of the victims were identified as Imran, 25, Faruk Laskar, 35, Nazmul Alam, 35, Nawsher Ali, 40, and Elias Ali, 40.

Sadar police officer-in-charge Jahangir Alam said a group of sand workers were returning to Magura from Jessore by the truck.

As the truck reached Moghirdal, miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the vehicle at about 8:00pm, leaving nine of the workers burned.

The injured were rushed to Magura Sadar Hospital where the condition of four was stated to be critical.
