40 held while going to India illegally
Satkhira: Members of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) held 40 Bangladeshis from Gangnia area of Gazipur border in Satkhira on Saturday night, while they were trying to leave for India illegally.
The detained said an organised syndicate was taking them to India by alluring them of giving lucrative jobs there.
BGB battalion-38 Gazipur BOP commander nayek subedar Nasiruddin said there are 20men, 12 women, and 8 children among the detainees.
The victims are Sultan Boradi, his wife Minara Begum, Jasimuddin, his wife Lily Parvin, his son Newaz, Mansoor Ali, his wife Sajeda Khatun, Mintoo Mia, his wife Asma Begum, his son Mesbauddin and others.
All of them are from different places of Bagerhat, Khulna and Barisal.
They were handed over to Satkhira Sadar Police at about 10:00pm.
