Dhaka: A young man was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Sweeper Colony in Sahjahanpur’s Titipara area in the capital in the early hours of Sunday.
The deceased is Monti.
RAB-3 operation officer and assistant police superintendent (ASP) Shariful Islam said Monti and his associates opened fire to RAB as they went in a raid at the colony at about 3:10am. Monti received bullet after police also fired back.
Later, Monti died on his way to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

Shariful Islam said Monti is the prime accused in Shumi murder case.
He said the body of Shumi was found in eight separated parts and her slaughtered head was recovered from Monti’s residence.
RAB also seized a pistol, a magazine and two bullets from Monti.

The ASP said police conducted a raid according to an arrested suspect in Shumi murder case on Saturday.
