Lakshmipur:  Kabir Hossain, an Awami Juba League leader, received a bullet during a ‘gunfight’ with police at Chandraganj union of sadar upazila, Lakshmipur in the early hours of Monday.

Chandra police claimed a group of robbers opened fire to patrol police as they were getting ready for robbery at about 3:00am in Ratanerkhil area. Police also fired back them and left one of the robbers, Kabir, injured. The other robbers managed to leave the spot. Kabir was admitted to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital.

Police also recovered an LG and few bullets from the spot.

Kabir claimed himself as Mandari union ward no-3 Juba League president.

He said police stopped him for questioning as he was on his way to Lakshmipur from Mandari at about 10:30am on Sunday. Police took him to Chandraganj police station. Police took him in other place after blind folded him at about 12:00am and shot him in his feet.
