Shamsher Mobin denied bail again

Dhaka: A court here on Wednesday turned down the bail petition of Bangladesh Nationalist Party vice-chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury in a case filed for assaulting Awami League lawmaker Chhabi Biswas at Bakshibazar in the city last year.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Quamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order when Mobin’s counsel M Sanaullah Mia submitted a petition before the court seeking bail for him.
Earlier, plain-clothes police arrested the BNP vice chairman from his Banani DOHS house on January 8 and a Dhaka court put him on a 5-day remand on the following day rejecting his bail prayer.
Miscreants attacked Chhabi Biswas, the lawmaker from Netrakona-1 constituency, and set fire to his microbus in front of the Emergency unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at Bakshibazar on 24 December 2014.
Two separate cases were filed with Chawkbazar and Shahbagh Police Stations in this connection.
