Manikganj: Fires gutted 65 shops at Joymontop bus terminal on Shingair-Hemayetpur road, Manikganj.
The fire originated from short circuit in the early hours of Thursday.

Traders said the fire damaged goods worth Tk1.5 crore.

Joymontop bus terminal trader association general secretary Mohammad Selim Hossain said the fire broke at Ilias Hossain’s shop at about at about 3:30am.

The local people tried to bring the fire under control with sand, soil and water. Later Manikganj and Savar fire stations doused the fire after 2 hours.

A tailback has been created as local people block the bus terminal road demanding a fire station at Shingair upazila at about 6:00am.

The local people left the road after an hour as lawmaker Mamtaz Begum promised to establish a fire station soon.
