Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch joint commissioner Monirul Islam said legal actions will be taken if any candidates, who are accused in criminal cases, come to participate in the city election without securing bail.

The Met police joint commissioner in a press conference at DMP media centre on Thursday morning said Dhaka Metropolitan police will take measures to assure a violence-free environment for the voters.

Election Commission declared the election schedule for Dhaka and Chittagong City Corporation on 18 March. 

Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed set 28 April for the city polls of Dhaka South, Dhaka North and Chittagong city corporations.
