Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday expressed deep shock at the deaths of 10 people in a stampede on the bank of Old Brahmaputra River at Langalbandh, Narayanganj on Friday morning.
In a condolence message, the Prime Minister prayed for salivation of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Narayanganj district commissioner Anisur Rahman said the local administration will compensate Tk 25,000 for the victims’ families.
A total of 10 devotees were killed and 30 others injured in the stampede during the Astami Punya Snan (holy bath), one of the major religious festivals of the Hindu community, on the bank of Old Brahmaputra River at Langalbandh, Narayanganj.
