Savar: Robbers looted valuables including cash and gold ornaments from a house at Tenguri in Ashulia in Savar upazila on the outskirts of Dhaka early on Thursday.

Ashulia Police Officer-in-charge Mohsinul Kadir said a group of around 12 robbers swooped on the house of former army personnel Shawkat Hossain, in the area.

Later, the robbers looted Tk 3 lakh and some gold ornaments from the house, keeping the house inmates hostages at gunpoint.

The robbers also beat up six of the inmates as they tried to resist them and left the scene with the looted assets.

On information, police visited the spot.
