Benapole: A local Awami Jubo League activist was shot down by miscreants at Baghdanga village in Monirampur upazila on Sunday night.

The deceased is Monowar Hossain, an activist of the local unit of ruling Awami League.

Police said Monowar was spending time with his friend in Baghdanga bazaar area at about 9:00pm. A young man came and asked Monowar to accompany him to the front of Baghdanga School.

When Monowar reached the place, a group of miscreants shot him, leaving him critically injured.

Hearing Monowar’s scream, locals rushed to the spot, rescued him and took him to Jessore Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at about 10:00pm.
