Three Bangladeshis identified among 20 killed in Dhaka restaurant
Three Bangladeshis, among the 20 civilians killed in an attack on a Dhaka restaurant in Bangladesh on Friday night, have been identified.
The identified Bangladeshis are Faraaz Hossain, youngest son to Transcom Group chairman Latifur Rahman’s daughter Simeen Hossain; Abinta Kabir, friend of Tarishi Jain, an Indian girl killed in the attack; and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) former adviser Ishrat Akhond.
An additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police confirmed their identities on Saturday afternoon.
The attack on a restaurant in the Bangladeshi capital left 26 people dead including six armed attackers, the Bangladesh army said on Saturday, most killed with sharp weapons.
Armed militants killed 20 civilians after taking them hostage in a restaurant at Gulshan in Dhaka overnight and many of the victims were hacked to death, an army spokesman said on Saturday.
