Why is chef Saiful’s photo in attackers’ list?
Dhaka: A new twist comes in the issue of Gulshan attack as family members of Saiful, a chef of the Gulshan restaurant who was missing after the attack, have identified him in the five pictures given by police terming them as attackers.
Question arises why Saiful’s picture has been given in the attackers' list where picture of a politician’s son Rohan Imtiaz, who was one of the IS claimed attackers, was not found.
Earlier, head of food and beverage section of the restaurant Sumon Reza said, ‘Though the hostage crisis at the café by terrorists is over, we are yet to trace our chef Saiful.’
He further said, ‘We’ve already seen the bodies of 20 victims at Dhaka Combined Military Hospital but couldn’t identify any that resembles Saiful.’
Regarding the images published by police, Sumon said ‘We have checked the pictures of the five suspected killed militants but that didn’t match with our chef’s.’
Saiful's village home is in Shariatpur.
News agency UNB connected with Md Ikram Ali, officer-in-charge of Naria Police Station in Shariatpur, who said police have the names of the 22 people, including two policemen, killed in the ‘militant’ attack as well as the names of the ‘six’ attackers who were killed by the commando operation later, but no name matches with Saiful.
Twenty hostages—nine Italians, seven Japanese, one Indian, one Bangladeshi American and two Bangladeshis—were killed in the terror attack at Holey Artisan Bakery in Gulshan on Friday night.
Besides, two senior police officers-Banani Police Station Officer-in-charge Salauddin Ahmed Khan and Detective Branch assistant commissioner Robiul Islam-were killed when they tried to rescue the hostages.
