Dhaka: A woman and her granddaughter were stabbed to death and another was injured in an attack by the woman’s son-in-law following a family feud at Islambagh in Chwakbazar area of Dhaka on Monday.

The deceased are Rashida Begum, 60, and her granddaughter Banya Akther, 22, while the injured was identified as Rashida’s daughter Sheema, 35, reports UNB.

Maruf Hossain Sarder, deputy commissioner of Lalbagh, said Jibon, son-in-law of Rashida Begum, went to Rashida’s house as his two children had been leaving with his mother-in-law after his wife’s death.

An altercation broke out among Jibon, Rashida, her another daughter Sheema, 35, and granddaughter Banya, 20, over a trifling matter.

At one stage, Jibon stabbed Rashida, Sheema and Bannya indiscriminately, leaving Rashida dead on the spot and two others injured.

The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Sheema dead.
