Gulshan Attack: BNP to observe Mourning Day on July 12
Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party will observe Mourning Day across the country on July 12 to condole the killings of foreigners and Bangladeshis and police officials in a terror attack on a Gulshan restaurant.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programme at a press briefing at BNP's central office in Dhaka.
He said black flags will be hoisted and party flags kept half-mast at all BNP offices across the country on the day.
Besides, the party leaders and activists will wear black badges in observance of the day.
They will also bring out mourning processions and hold rallies in all cities and district towns on July 12, Fakhrul added.
At least 28 people, including 17 foreigners, three Bangladeshis, six attackers and two senior police officials were killed as terrorists attacked Holey Artisan Bakery restaurant in the city's Gulshan diplomatic zone on Friday.
The nation observed a two-day mourning on Sunday and Monday in commemoration of those killed in the worst-ever terror attack in Bangladesh.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday made the declaration for observing the two-day national mourning in her televised address to the nation in the wake of the grisly attack on the Spanish eatery.
The nation paid rich tributes to 22 victims of the terror attack on Monday by placing wreaths at their coffins at the Army Stadium.
A BNP delegation, led by Fakhrul, also placed wreaths at the coffins of the victims paying the party's homage to them.
