2 minors drown at Sadarghat terminal

Keraniganj: Two minor siblings drowned as they fell into the River Buriganga after falling over the railing of a overcrowded pontoon at Sadarghat Launch Terminal in Old Dhaka area on Tuesday morning, reports UNB.
More than 50 persons including the two siblings fell into the river after falling over the railing of the pontoon at No. 1 VIP Gate at about 7:30am, said sub-inspector Delwar Hossain, in-charge of Sadarghat Terminal Police Camp.
All passengers managed to swim ashore while the sibling - identified as Sumaiya, daughter of Suman, a resident of Shariatpur, and her elder brother Sakib, 6, remained missing.
Informed, divers of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, recovered the body of Sumaiya from the river at about 11:00am, said sub-inspector of Naval Police Camp Samsul Alam.
Divers are frantically searching for Sakib, he added.
