Jhenaidah: Two persons including a member of Maharajpur union council were injured as miscreants hurled bomb at a tea-stall in Bishoykhali marker in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila on Tuesday evening.

The injured are union council member Atiqur Rahman and resident of the union Anisur Rahman.

The Jhenaidah Sadar Police Officer-in-charge Hassan Hafizur Rahman said miscreants hurled three crude bombs and fired few bullets as Maharajpur union’s newly-elected Chairman Khurshid Alam was heading towards the market area after offering prayer at mosque on Tuesday evening. Two of the bombs exploded and left Atiqur and Anisur injured on the spot. 

Later police recovered an unexploded bomb from the spot. The injured were taken to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital. Doctors said they are out of danger now.

Jhenaidah Sadar circle’s Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Gopinath Kanji Lal visited the spot on Wednesday night. Police tightened security on the spot following the incident.
