Mitu Murder: 2 to be quizzed for 3 days
Chittagong: A court on Sunday placed two accused, arrested in connection with the killing of Police Super Babul Akhter’s wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, on a three day remand each.
Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Abdul Kader passed the other following a petition filed by the investigation officer of the case.
Those remanded were Ehtashamul Haq Bhola and Manir Hossain.
Earlier on 28 June, police sought a 10-day remand for each in connection with the murder case.
Additional deputy commissioner of CMP Nirmalendu Bikash Chakraborty said police arrested Bhola from Bakolia area of the port city on 27 June.
Following statement of Bhola, police arrested Manir along with a pistol, one revolver and six rounds of bullet from the same area. Later, a case was filed with Bakolia Police Station accusing Bhola and Manir.
On 5 June, unidentified miscreants gunned down Mahmuda Khanam Mitu at the city’s GEC intersection while she went there to drop her son, Mahir Akhter, 7, for a bus to Chittagong Cantonment Public School and College.
