Chittagong: Police on Sunday night arrested a student of Chittagong University (CU) from Baizid area of Chittagong city for allegedly raping a Class-VI student, says a BSS report.

The arrestee, a final- year Philosophy student, hails from Patiya upazila of the district, police said.

Quoting the victim's mother, Baizid police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Mohsin said the arrestee raped the girl keeping her hostage at a local high school at Mohammadnagar under Baizid thana.

Later, he was arrested from his friend's residence after the victim's mother lodged a complaint with the police station.

The arrestee, who confessed to the rape, was sent to the court, police said, adding that a case was filed in this regard.
