5 killed in Tangail road accidents

Tangail: Five people were killed in two road accients in Tangail on Tuesday, reports BSS.

Four persons were killed and nine others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway of the district this morning, police said.

The victims are Abdur Rahim, 40, son of Samir Uddin of Rangpur district, Ajit, 30, son of M Kamel of Gaibandha district and Mirza Sadia, 7, daughter of Mirza Erfan of the district while identity of another one could not be known immediately.

Police sources said the accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound pick-up van collided head-on with a truck at Koratipara Bypass on the highway, leaving the van driver dead on the spot and wounding nine others.

The injured were admitted to Tangail Medical College Hospital where two of them succumbed to their injuries.

Another accident in the same area occurred when a pick-up van hit a motorcycle at 8:30am, leaving one Mirza Sadia died on the spot and Sadia's father and mother injured, police said.

The injured were admitted to the hospital.
