Lakshmipur: An alleged robber was injured in a reported gunfight with police in Kashimnagar area of Ramganj upazila early Tuesday.

The injured robber was identified as Harun.  

He was accused in several cases, including for robbery, with Ramganj Police Station.

Ramganj Police Station Officer-in-charge Tota Miah said on secret information that a gang of robbers numbering 9/10 were taking preparation to commit robbery; a team of police conducted a drive in the area at about 2:00am.

Sensing the presence of police, the robbers opened fire on them, forcing the law enforcers to fire back, triggering a gunfight that left Harun injured.

Two police constables, Ushadhon Chakma and Nesar Ahmed, were also injured in the incident.

Police also recovered two light guns, six rounds of bullet and two machetes from the spot.

The injured was admitted to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital.
