Search on for girl ‘drowned’ in Dhaka water body
Dhaka: Divers of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) has been searching for a minor girl who reportedly drowned in a water body near Mohakhali inter-district bus stand on Wednesday afternoon.
The missing girl was identified as Sanjida, 6, daughter of rickshaw-van puller Shash Alam. She used to live with her parents at a rented single-room apartment in Mohakhali Dakkhin Para, reports UNB.
Sources at the FSCD control room said a team of divers, comprising three members, have been searching for the ill-fated girl since 4:00 pm. But they were yet to recover the kid till filing of this report at about 9:30pm, said duty officer of the control room Ataur Rahman.
Sanjida reportedly drowned in the water body at about 2:30pm, said Inspector (Investigation) of Banani Police station Wahiduzzaman, quoting local people.
Primarily local people tried to rescue the kid but in vein.
