A woman day labourer was hacked to death by some miscreants at Ershadnagar in Tongi on early Thursday.

Tongi Model Police Station sub-inspector Moniruzzaman said Nargis Akter, a day labourer, along with her five children used to live at a rented house of one Kamal Hossain.

A gang of miscreants broke into her house at night and hacked Nargis with sharp weapons in the neck, leaving her dead on the spot, said police.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College and Hospital on Thursday morning.

The reason behind the killing could not be known immediately, said police.
