Dhaka: Dhaka North City Corporation mayoral aspirant Abdul Awal Mintoo and Dhaka South City Corporation mayoral aspirant Nasir Uddin Ahmed Pintu appealed against decision of the Election Commission that turned down their nomination papers on different grounds.

The lawyers of two mayoral candidates on Thursday challenged the returning officer’s decision and appealed to the Dhaka divisional commissioner’s office for validating the nominations.

Divisional Commissioner fixed 4 April for hearings of the appeals.

Election Commission on Wednesday cancelled the nomination papers on the first day of scrutinising the papers. The commission on Thursday completed its scrutinising.
