Road crashes kill 5 in Gazipur

Gazipur: Five people, including three women, were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Sadar upazila on Saturday.
Shreepur police officer-in-charge Hafizur Rahman said three female workers died on the spot and five others suffered injuries as a speedy truck crashed into a human hauler, locally known as Leguna, carrying them from behind on Dhaka-Mymensingh road at Bagher Bazar in the upazila at about 5:00pm.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
The injured people were admitted to different hospitals and clinics.
Besides, a youth, Al-Mamun, son of Tara Miah of Ramgopalpur village of Mymensingh, and an unidentified pedestrian were killed after a bus collided with a covered van in Borobari area in Gazipur city at noon.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue.
Police also seized the bus and the covered van.
