12kg gold bars seized at Dhaka Airport
Dhaka: Customs Intelligence officials recovered 12 gold bars, weighing 12kilogrames from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early on Friday.
A special team of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate conducted a search operation inside the Shahjalal Air Cargo Unit and recovered the gold bars from a wooden box of electric fans around 2:30am, said a customs intelligence officer.
However, none was arrested in this connection.
The market value of the seized gold is around Tk 6crore.
A flight of Cathay Pacific Cargo, Hong Kong, that carried the wooden box landed at the airport around 3:00pm on Thursday.
Global International, Hong Kong has sent the box to its consignee Zara International, Dhaka, added the officer.
