Jessore:  A schoolgirl was rescued while being trafficked to India through Rudrapur border area in Sharsha upazila, Jessore on Thursday night.

The victim is Nourin Akter, believed to be 14, a resident of Nayatola in Dhaka.

Local people said Nourin had a love relationship with one Sourav.

Sourav brought Nourin in Benapole in the name of going to a relative’s house on Wednesday night.

Sourav handed over the girl to the human traffickers, on Thursday night.

Nourin ran away and entered a house in the area after sensing danger and asked for help.

Later local people rescued handed over her to police.

None was arrested as the traffickers managed to flee.

The Sharsha police said they informed the matter to Nourin’s family.
