3 Cox’s Bazar journalists charged for publishing 'fabricated news'
Cox’s Bazar: A case has been filed against three local journalists under the ICT Act for allegedly publishing false news in an online news portal, reports UNB.
The three accused are ‘CTN24.com’ publisher and editor Sarwar Alam, executive editor Islam Mahmood, and chief reporter Shahed Mizan.
Sadar model police sub-inspector Joynul Abedin filed the case against the three journalists on Saturday, said Aslam Hossain Azrat, officer-in-charge of the station.
Police also arrested the online portel’s editor Sarwar Alam on Saturday and sent to jail following a court order.
The OC said a ‘false’ report was published by ‘CTN24.com’ on Friday that a young man, Junayed Hossain Ziku, was killed in the name of gunfight after the law enforcers picked him up from his house.
The two other accused went into hiding after the filing of the case, the OC added.
