Jhenidah: An unidentified youth was killed in gunfight with police at Aruakandi of Madhupur under Jhenidah sadar upazila of the district this morning.

Police recovered one shutter gun, five hand bombs, ammunitions and country made arms from the spot.

Additional Police Super of Jhenidah Azhar Ali Sheikh said a group of miscreants attacked police van while they were patrolling at Aruakandi of Madhupur on Jhenidah-Magura highway this morning.

In response, police also opened counter fire, leaving the youth dead on the sport. Two police also received injury, the additional SP claimed.

The body was sent to Jhenidah sadar hospital.

Later, he was identified as Saiful Islam Mamun, 25, secretary of Shibir of Bhatai area under Sailkupa upazila.
