13 charged over Dinajpur temple attacks
Dinajpur: Police have pressed two separate chargesheets against 13 reported members of banned Islamist organisation Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) for bombing Kantaji Temple and Eskon temple in Kaharole upazila in Dinajpur last year.
Sub-inspector of Dinajpur Detective Branch (DB) of police Bazlur Rashid submitted two separate charge sheets against the 13 militants with the court of Dinajpur Senior Judicial Magistrate Nazmul Hossain on June 30, said court inspector Abdus Sayed Sartkar.
Later, the court accepted the two chargesheets on Sunday and fixed July 24 for hearing.
Of the accused, eight were in jail while five others are on the run.
On December 10, 2015, two people were injured as miscreants exploded a bomb and then fired gunshots in a temple, run by International Society for Krishna Consciousness under Dabar union in Kaharole upazila of the district around 8pm when the temple committee was in a meeting inside.
Locals also caught two suspects in connection with the attack and handed them over to Kaharole Police Station.
Earlier on December 4, 10 people were injured as three crude bombs went off under the canopy of a ‘jatra’ show on the premises of Kantaji Temple in the upazila.
