Narayanganj: A 10-year-old boy was killed allegedly by pumping air into his rectum at a textile factory in Narayanganj’s Rupganj upazila on Sunday.

The deceased was identified Sagor Barman, 10, son of Ratan Barman of Rajipur village of Kaliajuri upazila of Netrakona district. Sagor along with his father used to work at Jubeda Textile Mills in Jatramura area, reported UNB.

Sub-inspector Bachchu Miah, also in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police camp, said some workers informed Ratan around 1pm that his son fell sick in the factory when he was away.

Later, the boy was found near an air compressor machine in the factory at about 1:30pm with his abdomen abnormally swollen, said Ratan.

Sagor was first taken to a local hospital and then shifted to the DMCH as his condition deteriorated.

Sagor succumbed to his injuries at the hospital around 3:30pm, the police officer said.

Talking to reporters, Sagor’s father alleged that someone killed his son by pumping air into his belly through his anus.

However, the owner and the employees of the factory went into hiding after the incident, sources at Rupganj Police Station said.

However, doctors are yet to confirm the actual cause of his death.

On August 4 last year, Rakib, who used to work at a motorcycle garage at Tutpara Central Road in Khulna city, was tortured to death in the same way by his employers over quitting job.

On November 8, a Khulna court convicted two people and sentenced them to death for killing the 12-year-old boy.
