Case filed over Narayanganj minor boy killing, 1 held

Narayanganj: A case has been filed against ten people for killing a 10-year-old boy allegedly by pumping air into his body through his rectrum at a textile factory in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj on Sunday.
Ratan Barman, father of victim Sagor Barman, filed the case with Rupganj Police on Monday morning.
Four among the accused are Nazmul Huda, junior official of the spinning mill, Harun Rashid, Rashidul Islam and Azahar. Nazmul Huda was arrested on Sunday while three others are absconding.
Jashim Uddin, inspector of the police station, was made the investigation officer of the case.
Sagor along with his father used to work at Jubeda Textile Mills in Jatramura area.
Sagor Barman was allegedly killed by pumping air into his body through his anus at a textile factory in Rupganj upazila.
Sub-inspector Bachchu Miah, also in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police camp, said some workers informed Ratan at about 1:00pm that his son fell sick in the factory when he was away.
Later, Ratan found his son lying beside a compressor machine in the factory at about 1:30pm with his stomach swelling.
Sagor was first taken to a local hospital and then shifted to the DMCH as his condition deteriorated.
Sagor succumbed to his injuries at the hospital at about 3:30pm, the police officer said.
On 4 August last year, a 12-year-old boy, Rakib, who used to work at a motorcycle garage at Tutpara Central Road in Khulna city, was tortured to death in the same way by his employers over quitting job.
On 8 November, a Khulna court convicted two people and sentenced them to death for killing the 12-year-old boy.
