Dhaka: A Dhaka Court on Monday issued an arrest warrant against nine BNP leaders including BNP Senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in an explosive substances case filed with Pallabi Police.

Taking cognizance of charge sheet of the case, Acting Metropolitan Session Judge Ruhul Amin issued the order, reports UNB.

The court also order officer-in-charge of the police station to submit a report on 23 August in this connection.

The other accused are—BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s special assistant Shimul Biswas, former MP Syeda Ashrafi Papia, press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan, Habibunnabi Khan Sohel and four others.

On 27 January, 2015, a bus was torched in Mirpur area under Pallabi Police Station during the BNP-led 20-party alliance’s blockade programme.

Later, a case was filed under the Explosive Substances Act.

On 3 May, 2016, the investigation officer of the case submitted the charge sheet of the case against 17 people.
