Writ filed seeking judicial probe into Inu’s remark against lawmakers
Dhaka: A writ petition was filed with the High Court on Tuesday seeking a judicial investigation into the recent remarks of Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu blaming lawmakers for 'stealing' money from Test Relief (TR) and Food For Work (Kabikha) programmes.
Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Yunus Ali Akand filed the writ petition at the High Court bench concerned, reports UNB.
Secretaries to the ministries of the Cabinet, Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD), Agriculture, Disaster Management and Relief, Finance and Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu have been made respondents.
The petition will likely to go before the HC bench comprising Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice JN Deb Choudhury on Wednesday.
Earlier on 24 July, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu at a programme in city said half of the money of TR and Kabikha programmes goes to the pockets of lawmakers.
Amid fierce criticisms and strong protests by lawmakers, the minister apologised in Parliament the following day on Monday.
