Another slain Kalyanpur ‘militant’ identified
Dhaka: Identity of another suspected militant among the nine who were killed in Tuesday’s overnight operation in Dhaka’s Kalyanpur area was confirmed on Thursday.
Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Monirul Islam at a press briefing at the DMP headquarters at afternoon said the suspected militant was identified as Raihan Kabir, a madrasah student and son of Shahjahan Kabir, a resident of Pirgachha upazila of Rangpur.
Raihan who had remained missing for the last one year trained the Gulshan Café attackers, he added.
Besides, Raihan was also on the wanted list of the Detective Branch of police following the killing of a constable in the attack on a patrol team of Ashulia industrial police in Baroipara in Savar last year.
With this, identities of all but one of the nine suspected militants killed in Kalyanpur’s special police operation have been confirmed.
Earlier, identities of the rest seven suspected militants were confirmed after the fingerprint samples of their bodies matched with that of the corresponding NID cards.
They are Abdullah, Abu Hakim Nayeem, Tajul Haque Rashik, Aqifuzzaman Khan, Shehjad Rauf, Md Matiur Rahman, and Md Zubair Hossain.
Nine suspected militants were killed in police firing during an operation by a special team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in the city’s Kalyanpur area early on Tuesday.
