HC wants to know govt initiatives in tackling tiger killing, smuggling
Dhaka: The High Court on Sunday asked the government to let it know the initiatives taken against the people, whose names came in the Interpol report for their involvement in killing of tigers and smuggling the parts of their bodies abroad.
A High court division bench comprising judges Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and JN Deb Choudhury passed the order asking forest secretary, home secretary, inspector general of police, deputy inspector general of police’s Khulna range, director general of Bangladesh Coast Guard, deputy commissioner of Khulna, among others, to submit a report in this regard on 1 September.
The court passed the order acting suo motto as a report published on daily Prothom Alo was brought to its attention by a Supreme Court lawyer.
