Shariatpur: Miscreants vandalised an idol of Hindu a deity at a temple in Angaria area of Sadar upazila early Tuesday.

Temple attendant Archana Rani Das said she found the idol of the goddess, Gouri Nitai Thakur, when she entered the Angaria Bazar Kali Mandir in the morning.

Manmath Kumar Das, president of the temple committee, said he informed police of the incident.

Officer-in-charge of Palong Model Police M Khalilur Rahman said police visited the spot and they are looking into the matter.
