Bodies of two missing men found in River Turag

Savar: Police recovered bodies of two young men who went missing while taking bath in the River Turag at Birulia bridge area in Savar on the outskirts of Dhaka.

The bodies were found at a place around two kilometres from the accident spot on Wednesday morning.

The deceased are Mizanur Rahman Mizan, resident of Barinda area of Kashimpur in Gazipur, and Minhaz Molla, a resident of the same area.

The Savar model police’s Birula police post in-charge Ashraf Mia said both Minhaz and Mizan along with about 30 people went to visit Birulia bridge area by a trawler. Minhaz who went to the river to take bath, lost control and drowned. Mizan, jumped off the trawler to rescued Minhaz. After a while, he also went under the heavy current.

A fire service diver’s team conducted a rescue operation for three hours at night, but failed to find the victims, said the police.

Later, local people called police as they found two bodies floating on the river.
