Satkhira: Police in a special drive arrested 45 people, including nine activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir, from different areas Satkhira from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning on various charges.

Satkhira Special Branch (SB) police inspector Mizanur Rahman said police launched a drive covering different areas in eight upazilas and arrested them.

The arrestees, a number of whom were accused in sabotage cases, were sent to jail, added Mizanur.

Among them, 16 were arrested from Sadar upazila, 10 from Kalaroa, four from Kaliganj, two from Patkelghata, four from Shyamnagar, three from Ashashuni, four from Tala and two from Debhata upazila.
