Cabinet purchase body approves 27 proposals
Dhaka: The Cabinet Purchase Committee on Wednesday approved a total of 27 procurement proposals including awarding a tender for setting up a 300-400 MW capacity dual-fuel combined cycle power plant to be set up in Khulna.
A consortium of two Chinese firms-Harbin and Jiangsu Company- won the contract at a cost of Tk 2370 crore.
The committee in a meeting, with Finance Minister AMA Muhith, approved the proposals.
Another two proposals include setting up of a 200 MW solar power plant in Gaibandha and a 5 MW solar plant in Goaineghat of Sylhet in private sector on build-own-operate basis. The Beximco-TBEA joint venture company won the 200 MW project from which the government will buy each unit of electricity at US 15 cents (Tk 12 per unit).
The government will have to spend Tk7778.40 crore to buy the electricity for next 20 years.
Eiki Shoji Company won the Goaineghat project from which the government will buy power at Tk 11.12 per unit.
The committee approved a proposal to extend a contract with Indian company PTC for another six months to import 250 MW electricity from Indian open market. The tariff was set at Tk 6.26 per unit.
The committee approved 15 separate proposals for procuring 632,211 electric poles, transformers and other equipments at a total cost of Tk 1314 crore.
The Power Division’s proposal to extend the tenure of the contract with Aggreko International Projects Ltd to buy electricity from its 85 MW B-Baria gas-fired power plant.
Two separate proposals of the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry received the nod of the Cabinet Purchase committee. Under one proposal, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) will appoint a contractor for construction of cargo apron in front of Cargo Terminal Building of the Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport.
As per another proposal, the CAAB will appoint a consultant for conducting a detailed feasibility study of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib International Airport project. The Japanese firm Nippon Koi won the contract at Tk 120.26 crore.
Two proposals of the Shipping Ministry received approval of the Cabinet body. Under the proposals, the department of shipping will award contract to procure 6 units of 26-inch cutter suction dredgers and 4 units of 20-inch cutter suction dredgers and other associated equipment.
