Madrasah girl ‘gang raped’ in Lakshmipur

Lakshmipur: A female madrasah student was allegedly gang raped by four young men in Lakshmipur’s Sadar upazila on Wednesday night.

Police rescued the victim in a critical condition from a house in Hogol Dahri area of Bashikpur union parishad in the upazila early Thursday.

Later the victim filed a case with the Sadar Police against four young men under the Prevention of Repression on Women and Children Act 2000.

Superintendent of Laxmipur police Mahtab Uddin said three of the alleged rapists were held in a manhunt which was launched after the incident had been reported.

The drive is still on to arrest the fourth person accused of raping the girl, he added.

The victim madrasah student was returning home in Dattapara union from her sister’s house in Rakimpur by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Wednesday afternoon when the four accused rapists stopped the vehicle and forcefully picked her up, UNB reported quoting security officials. They took her to a house in Hogol Dohri area of Bashikpur union and took turns to rape her.
