Dhaka: The High Court on Sunday stayed the proceedings of a treason case against Kishoreganj BNP leader Fazlur Rahman for a month.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice JBM Hassan passed the order, issuing a rule asking as to why the proceedings of the case shall not be quashed permanently.

Senior lawyer Khandaker Mahbub Hossain aided by advocate Masud Rana moved the case for Fazlur, while deputy attorney general Sheikh AKM Moniruzzaman Kabir and assistant attorney general Shahidul Islam Khan stood for the state.
