HC gets police report over Narayanganj teacher humiliation
Dhaka: Police on Sunday submitted a probe report to the High Court over the humiliation of Shyamal Kanti Bhakta, 57, headmaster of Piyar Sattar Latif High School in Bandar area of Narayanganj, on 13 May.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Ashish Ranjan Das set August 10 for further order as deputy attorney general Motahar Hossain Saju submitted the report before the court, reports BSS.
Narayanganj Bandar Police in its report failed to accuse any particular person for that incident, saying, ‘The event took place suddenly.’
It also said both teacher Shyamal and local lawmaker AKM Selim Osman are the victims of the incident that had arisen unexpectedly.
‘As both of them are victims of that unexpected incident, they don’t have any complaints against anyone. They did not give any testimonies too. That is why legal actions have not been taken against anyone,’ the report said.
The High Court issued a rule on May 18, asking the government as to why action would not be taken against people involved in humiliating Shyamal Kanti Bhakta.
