6 drown in separate incidents
Dhaka: Six people, including four children, drowned in separate incidents in Panchagarh, Brahmanbaria, Dinajpur districts, and in Savar on Monday, reports UNB.
In Panchagarh, two children drowned in a pond while taking bath at Sabarbhita village in Sadar upazila.
The deceased are Tuti Rani, 10, daughter of Joykumar; and Rahima Begum, 10, daughter of Hasibul Islam of the village.
In Dinajpur, two teenage boys drowned in the Atrai River at Mohonpur in Sadar upazila.
Quoting local people, police said Sajid Hossain Saad, 18 of Khetripara and Shakil Shamim Bishal, 17 of Munshipara village along with two others went to the river for taking bath in the afternoon.
At one stage, Sajid and Shakil drowned and went missing. After two and half an hours of frantic search, local people recovered the bodies of the two at about 3:00pm.
In Brahmanbaria, Sakib, 10, a class IV student and son of Mintu Mia of Narayanganpur village in municipality area, drowned in a waterbody when he tried to save his sister who fell into the water body from a boat at about 11:00am at Khalajora in Akhaura municipality area in the morning.
In Savar, a teenage boy drowned while taking bath in the Turag River at Bhakurta in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Sohel, 14, a resident of the area.
