Dhaka: Mentioning that BNP, Jamaat are the lone obstacle on the country’s way to development and advancement, Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif on Monday said ‘the evil force’ must be destroyed to ensure progress.

‘It has been clear before the nation that Khaleda and Jamaat are the only obstacle for the development and advancement of the country. We need to be united under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina to oust the evil forces,’ he said.

The Awami League leader said this while addressing a discussion marking the 86th birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman organized by AL Dhaka city units (North and South) at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.

Addressing the occasion, Housing and Public Works minister and Awami League presidium member Engineer Mosharraf Hossain said ‘We will move the country forward under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. We will also be able to destroy militancy from the country under Hasina’s leadership.’

Food Minister Quamrul Islam and AL organizing secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, among others, spoke on the occasion held with AL Dhaka city unit general secretary Shahe Alam Murad in the chair.
