Dhaka: A young man was hacked to death by miscreants in Dhaka’s Jurain area on Monday night.

The deceased is Mohammad Saidur Rahman Tutul, resident of the area.

Local people said a group of miscreants snatched the mobile phone of Tutul’ s elder brother in the morning.

Tutul locked into an altercation with the criminals over the snatching in the afternoon.

At one stage, the hoodlums hacked him with sharp weapons at about 3:30pm, leaving him injured.

He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at about 5:30pm where he died at about 10:00pm, said DMCH Police Camp in-charge sub-inspector Bachchu Miah.
